On October 15, 2014, following reports earlier in the year that Discovery Kids Universe president Margaret Loesch would step down by the end of the year, Discovery acquired 10% of Hasbro's stake in the network, and replaced Loesch with Henry Schleiff, who will lead the channel's sister networks such as Discovery Kids' Ready to Travel.
The World of Discovery Kids was intended to be a general, youth-oriented network with a "diverse" lineup, primarily featuring the second season reboot of Discovery Kids, called Discovery Kids: A Voyager's New Life. Hasbro and Viacom handled programming, while Discovery handled distribution and advertising sales. The network succeeded Fun Kids Channel. On June 2011, Hasbro, along with Viacom, announced a joint venture with Discovery to re-launch The Discovery Kids Network as The World of Discovery Kids (later Discovery Kids Universe) on August 23, 2012.
